Pressed Glass Daisy Bowl in Avocado Green
She loves me, she loves me not! Ah, depression glass. Why do they call it that anyway? Depression glass describes how the molten glass was pressed into the mould. Okay, so, I'm not sure that that's true either but it seems plausible.
What is true is that most of this glass was made in the Ohio River Valley (the motherland) during the Great Depression of the 1920's. But who could feel sad when there's a daisy around? And this lovely transparent avocado green bowl has been pressed to look like a daisy. Smooth but not flat texture on the interior. The petals have been kiln carved into the backside and have a slight but still smooth texture.
The colour appears darker or lighter depending on how thick or thin the glass is due to how much light can pass through it.
Shopping at the Artful Accumulator's Vintage Boutique may result in a brighter home. :-)
